VIALOGUES
One of my most comprehensive UX writing projects, I handled everything from web page copy to microcopy to error messages to email correspondence... and more!
LANDING PAGE
HERO TEXT
Vialogues is a video-discussion platform, but I'm not convinced that means anything to people outside of the organization. So, I needed to come up with a way that immediately and concisely explained what Vialogues is and what you can do with it.

SHORT ABOUT PARAGRAPH
In talking to the UX Designer on this project, we identified our main goal of the landing page: to equip people with just enough information to understand what Vialogues is, but also to entice them to read or explore more.

ABOUT PAGE
My main goal for the about page was to explain what Vialogues is, who the audience is, and how it could be used.

EMPTY STATES
DISCUSSION PANEL
Providing a clear message in an empty state helps orient and guide users. At the very least, these messages should answer the question, "why am I seeing this?"
When vialogues are first created, they have no comments. But, commentless vialogues are a sad sight (and go against the main purpose of the platform which is to support video-based conversation). So with this message, found in the discussion panel, I wanted to encourage users into action.

COMMENTING OFF
Sometimes moderators will choose to turn vialogue commenting off. In these cases, it's important to inform users why they are unable to add a comment.

USER PROFILES
When a user hasn't yet created, moderated, or participated in a vialogue, they'll see a message reminding them of their lack of activity.

SEARCH
Not returning a result for a search can be a frustrating experience. To soften this blow, I wanted to provide a kind and encouraging message.

ERROR MESSAGES
404
Just a straightforward message to let people know the page they're trying to access doesn't exist.

PRIVATE VIALOGUES
Moderators have the option of keeping their vialogues open or closed. If closed, users who find the vialogue will be given clear indication of why they do not have access and the option to request to join it.

EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS
SOMEONE MADE A COMMENT
Getting a response to a vialogue you created is an exciting thing, and I wanted the messaging to reflect this happy occasion.

SOMEONE ADDED A REPLY
Replies add extra dimension to online conversations; they help build momentum! I wanted the message here to convey a celebratory tone.

VIDEO FINISHED PROCESSING
Finally, it can sometimes take a few minutes for a video to finish uploading. In the meanwhile, users often navigate away from that browser window. This message is meant to bring them back to Vialogues.
